Breath of the Wild, to some, is the game that finally broke free of the shadow of Ocarina of Time, long held to be the masterwork of the Zelda franchise; and while only time will yield that answer, no one doubts that it is a game breathtaking in scope, and staggering in its depth and detailing. Breath of the Wild departed from many long-standing traditions within the series, transforming our notions of what a Zelda game is, and, more broadly, showing us what video games are capable of as a medium of Art.
