Tears of the Kingdom
This page contains all articles pertaining to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (2023).
The anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wild (2017), Tears of the Kingdom returned gamers to the same world, building upon its predecessor's groundbreaking elements to open up new vistas of gameplay — both geographically and mechanically. While not as revolutionary as its parent game, Tears furthered Nintendo's action-adventure formula in ways that many see as the future of the franchise. And though the game did little in terms of new storytelling elements, enemy design, or dungeon composition, the sandbox nature of the game proved to be its chief strength, offering largely unbounded freedom for players. In the end, whether Tears has a unique-enough identity to break free from its predecessor's shadow (as Majora's Mask did with Ocarina of Time) is something only time will tell.
